Between April 27th and May 11th, WBBM listeners were invited to nominate a Chicago Hometown Hero… a great teacher, firefighter, humanitarian, or maybe someone who even saved a life. A panel of judges selected three nominees who were then submitted to the United States Air Force Thunder Birds for final review. While all nominees were heroes in their own right, Brian Otto was selected as Chicago’s Hometown Hero...
BRIAN OTTO
One Of Chicago's Very Own
Brian Otto saved a 2yr. old boy from drowning in Lake Michigan April 08. The grandfather was pushing the 2 yr. in his stroller, the wind blew the child in the lake (stroller and all), my son Brian with the Chicago Dive Team jumped from the helicopter into the 42 degree water and hoisted the entire stroller and child to the surface with all strength and handed the child off to the paramedics. He hoped the child would be safe as he thought of his own son. He gives the credit to team work. Everyone there was a hero! See photos >>
